Y’all know my Antique Crib that I keep on my back porch? When I picked it up last Spring, it was in rough shape and super rusty….but despite the risks involved with sitting anywhere NEAR it (tetanus shots required…) I opted to keep it rusty. I liked it beat up. It shows the age of it, and that’s how I prefer it.
Well, the only outdoor space I had for this old thing happened to be on my back porch…where we also happen to store our firewood once it gets cold.
It’s October friends. And in NE Ohio that means one thing. We’re preparing for hibernation. Ok. Maybe not. But we ARE preparing for Winter. So bye-bye adorable Antique Crib. We must make room for our heating essentials and you must go to storage. Or must youuuuuu??
I was lying in bed the other night and it hit me….which happens to be where most of my ideas hit me. When I’m in a dead sleep. I’ve been known to get up at 2am to go downstairs and take measurements of furniture or walls. I wish I was kidding.
The Antique Crib doesn’t have to go storage after all. She can come inside for the Winter! But where? And first she needs a good scrubbing. And paint.
I sanded down all her rust. This is probably the real reason I didn’t clean it up when I first got it. Who am I kidding? It had nothing to with the aesthetic of it. 🙂 Such. A. Mess. A couple of cans of spray paint and she was good as new! Why didn’t do this sooner!? Love.
I threw her on my back and carried her inside. What? I did.
I decided the Office/Sun Room was the most suitable spot. And let me tell you! I’m SO IN LOVE! I absolutely LOVE having this daybed in there. I have already enjoyed a few cups of coffee in this spot. Our Office is nothing but windows and it sits on the far end of the house….so it’s quiet and all MINE. I shopped the house for the “Coffee Table”. Everything else was already in this space! It fits quite nicely.
Yay for keeping her out of storage! Thanks for stopping by!
