There hasn’t been a ton of extra time for home improvement projects lately due to the insane growth of Gable Lane Crates…..which is totally a good thing and I’m thrilled beyond belief, but there’s certainly a part of me that misses blogging.
So, today I have a couple exciting things to share!
#1. I have been dying to Board & Batten SOMETHING. I’ve been scouring walls in my house that would be suitable for such a look. I considered my home office, but ended up ship lapping it. I considered my bedroom, but went with wallpaper instead. Then it hit me last week….my Dining Room! I have one large wall with a window in the center and it would be perfect for Board & Batten! Because of our super busy life right now, I had a super itty bitty teeny tiny window of time on Saturday to knock this out. The plan was to get the wood up, and paint the board and batten part of the wall. That’s it. Well, once I started painting I decided that the entire room should be painted…..so I down shifted and started speed painting. I can’t be certain, but I THINK I set a new record for the fastest paint job ever.
The finished project is everything I wanted….and more! I opted to use 1×4 pine common boards rather than the plywood or MDF boards that a lot of others use. I wanted a meatier chunkier look. I splurged on the top trim piece to give it a nice polished old school look. The two 5 foot trim pieces cost double what I paid for the pine boards. Silliness, but a girl wants what she wants.
I painted everything Benjamin Moore White Dove. Which makes the 4th room in my house this color. I might be obsessed. It’s the best white on the planet.
Ok #2. I’m so so so excited to share these AMAZING silhouettes I had done by Burlap & Bows Design. I’ve been wanting a pair of silhouettes of my kiddos forrrrrrrevvvvverrrrr. I reached out to Aimee about having a couple done because my kids are growing TOO fast and I so desperately wanted to capture their sweet little faces while they’re still little-ish. Mama’s, we gotta freeze time every chance we get, right? These are the PERFECT way to do just that!
Aimee was a dream to work with! She walked me through how to get side profile photos of my kids that would depict their cute little faces! My 9 year old hated me for forcing her against a wall and taking a side shot of her face, but that’s life kid.
Honestly, you guys. I couldn’t be more in love with these. I’m so happy that I’ll have them forever.
I love them so much in fact, that I asked Aimee if I could give one away!! So, head to my Instagram to enter to win one of these amazing silhouettes!! And be sure to head to Burlap & Bows Design to check out her other amazing work!
Until next time, kids. Have a lovely day! 🙂
