Christmas Tour 2015

Christmas Tour 2015

It feels like I’ve been finalizing my Christmas decorations for 7281 days. I tend to become rather obsessive and can’t STOP until it’s JUST right. Here’s what I think….in case you were wondering. Anyone can decorate for Christmas if they spend oodles of money. But to decorate an entire house, with little to no spending budget, it aint easy kids. You have to get mega creative and sometimes it just doesn’t turn out “perfect”……well by the worlds standards anyway.

My house is FULL of treasured Christmas items….things that may not be super trendy, but are really meaningful to me. So. If you enjoy a more traditional Christmas home, then you just might enjoy these pictures.

Let’s begin with the Dining Room. Oh. I should mention, I had the world’s WORST lighting when I took these pictures so I had to work some editing magic….and by magic, I simply mean, now they look even worse. Do enjoy, won’t you.

This is my third year doing this gold tree….because I can’t afford to buy all new tree decorations every year. Even after three years though, I still love putting it together. Despite being covered in glitter for 19 days afterwards.

Both the tree skirt and the small nativity scene in this picture were gifts…..both of which I love very much.

Yep. That’s wax all over my mantle. I spilled it last night and haven’t had time to scrape it off. Keepin it real, folks.

Yep. That’s our Elf hanging out up there. His name is Fred. And I’m the worst Elf Mom in the world because I can never remember to move Fred to a new location. This morning my 6 year old busted me running through the house with Fred up my shirt after realizing I forgot to move him. Again. For the second night in a row. Like any good Mother I told my sweet son that Fred’s magic is low and he needed some assistance. He should be right as rain by morning!  IMG_0519 IMG_0525edit IMG_0528edit IMG_0529edit IMG_0530edit IMG_0539edit

Now, we’ll move into the Office/Sunroom/Toy Room. This room wears many hats. I have a couple small trees in here. One on my desk and the other in front of the window which is on the front of the house. 🙂

This is the all kid tree. All of their ornaments from over the years both gifted and handmade adorn this tree. They decorate it by themselves and have a blast doing it!  IMG_0567edit

Finally, the Living room. Where all the action happens. By action, I mean television and eating.  And I swear I’m not staging my dog in these shots. He just follows me EVERYWHERE I GO and ends up in most of my shots.

This tree is my favorite in the house. It’s whimsical and fun. Lots of plaid and buffalo check. And of course the super awesome planter box I built.

I took cheap burlap stockings from Hobby Lobby and sewed a strip of plaid ribbon on them to jazz them up!
I found a vintage 1960’s santa sack in an Antique Store and made pillows from it. This is one of the pillows….
The other pillow from the vintage santa sack.

Lastly, this sweet advent calendar I made for my littles. I love this time of year SO MUCH. I love recreating all of my favorite memories. I hope my kids grow up with the fondest memories of this time of year like I have.

Thanks for stopping!! I hope you’ve been inspired! 🙂

You had me at ‘little to no spending budget’ and lack of lighting. I can really identify with both of those and that is how our Christmas home tour came together. I re-use, thrift, sell furniture for spending money, makeover items and hand make others to decorate our home. Then I saw the photos and your home looks lovely. Love the pretty trees and the gorgeous way you applied your ribbon garland. Your pup is adorable, we have a chocolate Lab. The white armoire is an amazing piece and I really like the bench and door table top too. Cute idea to make pillows out of the vintage sack. Thanks for sharing your tour.
