Repurposed Shutter Bench

While I would LOVE to be able to take all the creative credit for this DIY project, I cannot. The amazing Liz Marie gets all the high fives for this one. And like a good blogger, I copied.

When my husband built our newest farm table, I wanted something really different and fun for our bench. I came across her shutter bench blog post and knew I had to have one. Finding the right sized shutter was no trouble at all. A few stops in antique stores and I had the perfect one. We tweaked ours slightly from the way Liz did it, but overall got the same outcome.

I am totally obsessed.

We just saw some on Craig’s List and were wondering what we could do with shutters…Now I have to go see if they’re still available. One question, is it comfy to sit on, or do you put pillows down?? Thanks!!

You actually can’t even feel the shutters. It just feels like any other bench. I was afraid it would be uncomfortable, but I think the key is putting support boards underneath so that the weight is distributed under the shutter.
